This Privacy Policy describes how Kolo ("the App", "we", "us") collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use our mobile application for recording, transcribing, and summarizing phone calls.

1. Information We Collect

• Call audio recordings — audio you choose to record using the App.
• Transcripts and summaries — text generated from your recordings by our processing services.
• Account information — your email address and display name when you sign in.
• Device and usage data — device model, operating system version, app version, crash logs, and anonymized usage analytics used to improve the App.
• Call metadata — date, time, duration, and (if you grant Call Log permission) the caller name/number associated with a recording. This is stored to help you organize your recordings.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To record calls at your request and store them securely in your account.
• To transcribe recordings into text and generate summaries.
• To sync your recordings, transcripts, and summaries across your devices.
• To provide customer support, fix bugs, and improve app performance.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use the content of your recordings, transcripts, or summaries for advertising.

3. Third-Party Processing Services

To provide transcription and summarization, audio and text are processed by trusted third-party providers acting on our behalf:

• Google Firebase (Google LLC) — authentication, cloud storage, cloud functions, and analytics. Firebase Privacy

These providers receive only the data required to perform the service and are contractually bound to protect it.

4. Permissions We Request

• Microphone — required to record calls.
• Call Log — to show the caller's name, number, and call duration next to your recordings in the App.
• Media / Storage — to read and store your call recording audio files on the device.

5. Your Responsibility When Recording Calls

Laws about recording phone calls vary by country and region. In some jurisdictions, you must obtain the consent of all parties before recording a conversation. You are solely responsible for complying with the laws that apply to you when using the App to record calls. We recommend informing the other party that the call is being recorded.

6. Data Storage, Security, and Retention

• Recordings, transcripts, and summaries are stored in Google Firebase (Google Cloud) with encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest.
• Access to your data is restricted to your authenticated account.
• Your data is retained until you delete it or delete your account.
• When you delete a recording, its transcript and summary are deleted as well. Residual copies in backups are removed within 30 days.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data.
• Delete your data ("right to be forgotten"). You can delete individual recordings in the App, or delete your entire account and all associated data from the App's settings or by contacting us.
• Withdraw consent for optional permissions at any time via your device settings.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed on servers located outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union, by the providers listed in Section 3. We take steps to ensure such transfers comply with applicable data-protection laws.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version at this address and update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated in the App.
